How many of you remember making May Baskets for May Day when you were growing up?
\n<\/p>\n

Well, I do! \u00a0We made our May baskets, filled them with wild flowers and usually some kind of candy and then off we went to hang them on the neighbors’ doors–knock on the doors and then run like crazy before they could see us or catch us!<\/p>\n

For centuries many cultures have celebrated May Day as the first day of summer, even though May 1 comes near the start of spring. \u00a0It’s a time for saying goodbye to the long, cold winter and welcoming warmer weather by gathering flowers, singing, dancing and making and delivering May baskets.<\/p>\n

I found some ideas on Pinterest<\/a> for making May baskets so I thought I would share them with you. \u00a0It would even be fun for your child to make one and give to his\/her teacher! \u00a0This first idea comes from Creative Preschool Resources<\/a>. \u00a0It is a free printable tag – so cute!<\/p>\n

Making a May basket can be super easy. \u00a0Check out this idea from ABCs & Garden Peas.<\/a><\/p>\n

Regardless of what your May basket looks like, you will need to put some goodies in the basket. \u00a0Look how clever this idea is from Secrets of a Super Mommy<\/a>–so cute using the lollipops or Tootsie Pops as “flowers”.<\/p>\n

What about having a special May Day luncheon with your girlfriends? \u00a0Cupcakes are always a great dessert item, and the Cupcake Project<\/a> has a clever cupcake idea for May Day.<\/p>\n

You could always have a special dessert for the family (especially the kids) with this Mini Maypole Cake from Studio DIY<\/a><\/p>\n
