Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks!
Yes, a time to give thanks for all of the many blessings we have! I would guess that most of us are making plans for that special day since it is only a couple of weeks away.
My daughter, Laura, (Dooley Design) sent me some pictures of her front entrance after she took down the Halloween decorations and put up some more fall items. My oldest grandson was Harry Potter for Halloween, and he made a Harry Potter pumpkin for his pumpkin decorating class at school. I notice that Laura kept most of the pumpkins on the porch, including Harry Potter! She also kept the lanterns filled with pumpkins and gourds. Pumpkins always work well when decorating for fall and Thanksgiving.
As I have mentioned before, I love using lanterns for decorating–whether outside or inside the home. I found this great lantern idea at Hometalk, and I think it would really add that fall touch to your front entrance. It is similar to the lanterns that Laura has on her front entrance.
As part of my “decorating” for any season/holiday, I like to include sayings and/or quotes that are suitable for the specific season/holiday. There are so many free printables that it is always hard to choose which one or ones I want to use. I usually end up putting theses in different size frames throughout my home. I found several from The Wow Style that I thought I would share with you.
How great would this look on your mantel!!
Decorating inside the home for fall and Thanksgiving is always fun because of the many ways that pumpkins, gourds and candles can be used as centerpieces. I thought I would share a few ideas I found on Pinterest–maybe these will give you some ideas for your own decorating. (I have pinned all of these ideas on my Thanksgiving board on Pinterest-Janis Slaughter).
I enjoy using glass cylinders and candles in decorating tables, mantels, etc. This find from Its Written on the Wall caught my eye.
Here is a great centerpiece for your main table–credit has to be given to Country Living for this idea.
Putting small pumpkins in glass cylinders is a great idea as well. This particular one is from Ten June. This arrangement could be used on a side table, sofa table or in the kitchen on a counter.
Pumpkins and pine cones are great to use when making that special centerpiece. I found that Country Living has great ideas for using these items along with glass cylinders and bowls.
I think this idea would be great on an entry way table. The idea uses a Mason jar wrapped in a paper bag/sack! Once again this idea is from Country Living.
The Thanksgiving meal is usually a traditional meal with turkey, dressing, pumpkin pie and all of the trimmings! I thought this was a fun way to serve the veggies and dip so guests could “snack” before the main meal. Bright Settings gets the credit for this idea.
While enjoying family, friends, good food and everything else that goes along with Thanksgiving, I hope we will all stop and give thanks to God for the many blessings that have been given to us.
~ HAPPY THANKSGIVING! ~
